(To Albert) Yes, I have. Great idea, and I loved the biotech crittters. But there are a lot of errors and implausibilities in the books: 1) humans would never have arisen in the New World (in fact, I doubt we and other familiar mammals would have arisen anywhere, although possibly something like us); 2) terrestrial mosasaurs are a really poor candidate for sentience; 3) many of the dinosaurs’ scientific names are portmanteaux of different genera, like “Psittacosaurus montanoceratops“; 4) many of the animals depicted died out long before the end of the Cretaceous (ichthyosaurs, stegosaurs, psittacosaurs, etc.); 5) polyandry in nature is exceedingly rare.

@ Mike - Before I read the series I was convinced that he would use some Troodon or Raptor type that had evolved into something intelligent, a much more realistic scenario.
However, I seriously doubt that some Purgatorius species would have evolved into humans.
