Most of you are probably already familiar with the work of Luis Rey, but in case you didn’t know, he has a website: Luis V. Rey’s Art Gallery: Dinosaurs and Paleontology. (And yes, there really is a piece featuring Carnotaurus in flagrante delicto.)
I realize Parry and Carney has been a black-and-white strip until now, but it seemed somehow wrong not to use color for even a cartoon version of a Rey piece. He usually works with very saturated colors, and why not? Dinosaurs, like almost all sauropsids, have better color vision than us mammals, and many living dinosaurs (particularly passeriforms) are quite colorful. (Although some of my favorite Rey works, oddly enough, are his dynamic black-and-white sketches in Henry Gee’s A Field Guide to Dinosaurs.)
Excellent. The hacker-speak was a nice touch as well. And now I’ll never look at Carnotaurus Sex the same way again. Maybe we ought to spoof a few other famous paleo artworks.

I think of it more as an homage than a spoof. I do feel like doing others now … we’ll see….
I love the red pterodactyls (sp?) in the background - nice touch; I can almost hear the romantic orchestral music swelling in the background…
Hehe - well, Rey gets the credit for that touch. I just traced his painting, simplified the coloring, and added googly eyes to the Carnotaurus.
Oh yeah—you spelled “pterodactyl” right, but it’s kind of an informal term among paleontologists. More common (and precise) is “pterosaur”, and the pterosaurs depicted here are specifically a type of pterodactyloid pterosaur.
Elvis help me, all I could think of was a mutilation of one of Bill Hicks’s classic comedy routines. “You the one buyin’ all the ‘bobbin’ scaly dinosaur-ass’ movies?” “Nuh-UH! It said ‘Pink Stegosaurs’! If it had said ‘Bobbin’ Scaly Dinosaur-Ass, I never woulda bought the mother****er!”

…But let me get this straight… The 2 horny (I’m aware of the irony here) characters complain about the difficulties involved in mating, yet make no mention of the undoubtedly arduous task of operating a keyboard and mouse with those “itty bitty” nubbins they have for arms? Ridiculous.

Never mind that there wasn’t any Internet, nor any computers at all, until quite recently in the Holocene; and that Carnotaurus had no language, let alone Modern English; and …
Why is “pterodactyl” the correct spelling now? IIRC, Seeley’s classic book used “pterodactyle”.
I think “pterodactyle” or “ptero-dactyle” may be a French spelling. Not sure, though.
